Professor Miller holds a Ph.D. in Accounting from the University of Texas at Austin. Prior to arriving at Notre Dame, he managed financial planning and reporting for the international operations of NCR Corporation and practiced as a Certified Public Accountant for Ernst and Young. He has published articles on the effects of voluntary disclosures on financial analyst and investor judgments in journals such as The Accounting Review, Journal of accounting Research, and Contemporary Accounting Research.
Jeff teaches Accounting Measurement and Disclosure which covers financial reporting by publicly held corporations. He focuses on teaching students how to think about and understand business transactions and then how to use the language of accounting to communicate those transactions to investors. In class, he extensively uses technology to help students understand basic concepts and to illustrate examples of financial reporting from actual corporate financial reports. Jeff has twice been awarded the department of accountancy Dincolo award for excellence in undergraduate teaching.
