Gathering Evidence of Teaching Effectiveness

Description:

Participants will be presented with a summary of “Evaluating a T&R Faculty Member’s Teaching: Guidelines for Preparing a Case for Renewal/Tenure/Promotion” and an overview of the evidence web site. They will also receive a number of sample rating forms that they can use as starting points for the development of clear criteria for evaluation of evidence. Participants will be given time to begin to identify the types of evidence that are most appropriate in their settings.

Learning Goals:

After successfully completing this workshop you will be able to:

  • describe “Evaluating a T&R Faculty Member’s Teaching: Guidelines for Preparing a Case for Renewal/Tenure/Promotion.”
  • list the 4 categories and 8 questions that Faculty members are asked to address when preparing their teaching packets.
  • utilize the evidence web site to identify appropriate forms of evidence to include in teaching packets for their areas.
  • identify guidelines that will be used when evaluating evidence.
