Time: 9:30-10:45 a.m.
Location: 210-214 McKenna Hall
Presenter(s):  Catherine Sims-Kuiper and Rachel Banke, Postdoctoral Associates of the Kaneb Center

Description: Drawing on recently published scholarship on teaching and learning, this workshop will explore what research tells us about the perceptions students bring to the classroom about you, your instructional methods, and their own learning achievements. Where are there gaps between student expectations and instructors' approaches? Where do students over- or under-estimate their own abilities and learning? By illuminating the assumptions we all bring to the classroom, this workshop will help instructors communicate better with students and teach more effectively.
