Description: This workshop is targeted at the use of discussion boards as a means to engage students and build community within both the traditional and online classroom environment.  Specific research-based strategies for using discussions to develop an engaged learning community will be shared. Examples of these strategies include:  crafting an engaging prompt, peer feedback models, navigating instructor presence, and techniques to promote collaboration.
