Course Instructor Feedback Results
Departments should decide which questions/components of the Course Instructor Feedback will be used in reviews and what levels of performance, absolute and comparative, will trigger further analysis.
Care should be taken when comparing decile ranks since large variations in decile rank can accompany small changes in the average score that are not indicative of meaningful differences in teaching quality. Confidence intervals, represented graphically in the CIF reports, provide information that can assist in interpreting both averages and decile ranks during comparative analysis.
It is also important to be aware that scores can be influenced by characteristics such as class size, course level, course type (required or elective) and sex of instructor, among others.
