Kaneb Forum

Join us for the following activities to learn about evidence-based STEM teaching practices and get connected with STEM teachers at Notre Dame and around the country.

For Notre Dame STEM faculty, graduate students, and postdoctoral students.

Course: October 6 to November 23, 2014

"An Introduction to Evidence-Based Undergraduate STEM Teaching"  is a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) developed by the national Center for the Integration of Research, Teaching, and Learning. "Participants will learn about effective teaching strategies and the research that supports them, and they will apply what they learn to the design of lessons and assignments they can use in future teaching opportunities. Those who complete the course will be more informed and confident teachers, equipped for greater success in the undergraduate classroom."

Full participation in the course takes approximately eight hours/week. Registration is free at www.coursera.org/course/stemteaching

Community: October 6 to November 23, 2014

The Kaneb Center will host a local learning community for faculty, graduate students, and postdoctoral students who participate in the MOOC to share and discuss what we've learned and how we might apply it at Notre Dame. This community will meet weekly for 1 hour sessions, scheduled according to participant availability. Light refreshments provided.

Register by contacting the Kaneb Center at 631-9146 or kaneb@nd.edu.
