How Learning Influences Teaching

We start from the presumption that teaching is intended to improve the learning  experience for the student.  To do this,  it makes sense to try to  understand the  basic principles  of how adults learn.  This session will address some of the cognitive, emotional, and behavioral processes that affect learning and attempt to tie them back to teaching practices.  The science behind learning is extensive so this will be a practical introduction to the material.

Learning Goals:

After successfully completing this workshop you will be able to:

  • improve understanding of the adult learning process.
  • acquire strategies for  using what we know about adult learning processes to improve teaching experiences.
