Teaching Writing across Disciplines

Description: This workshop will introduce participants to a variety of strategies to promote students’ improvement in writing across various disciplines, from low-stakes writing assignments, in-class writing workshops, and the design of larger projects.  Participants will create a plan for incorporating more targeted, diverse writing assignments and activities into the design of a future course.
Learning Goals:

After successfully completing this workshop you will be able to:

  • understand how writing can promote critical thinking in any discipline.
  • incorporate a variety of writing activities into your courses throughout the semester.
  • design assignments and rubrics that promote the holistic development of writing skills.
